VueNet PoE Switches

What is a PoE Switch?

A PoE Switch is a network switch that is designed to power devices through the ethernet cable. This removes the need for unsightly electrical wires as well as the work installing them. Not all cctv cameras are PoE cameras, so it’s important to make sure that they are compatible. It isn’t just cameras that can be powered this way although they are one of the most common use cases.

Why do I need a PoE Switch?

PoE Switches dramatically decrease network costs as mentioned above, as they simplify the install process by reducing the need for cabling. They come in different sizes and our range extends from 4 channel PoE switches up to 24 channel PoE switches.

What does a PoE Injector do and what is the difference between PoE and “normal” switches?

A standard switch is simply used to transmit data, and not power down the ethernet cable, this option is typically a cheaper unit as you’d expect. However, a regular switch can become a PoE switch by connecting a PoE injector or PoE splitter.
