WHAT IS AN NVR?

An NVR or Network Video Recorder is a device designed to store the footage recording from IP Cameras, it’s comparable to the older formatted DVR’s in this manner (digital video recorder) which was used for older coaxial systems.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN NVR SYSTEM?

NVRs offer far more flexibility and better coverage than their predecessors and can be used to add in smart features to compatible cameras.

These features include two-way audio, the ability to identify faces, licence plates and AI. This can go on to set specific trigger areas for coverage and enabling your system to see the difference between animals, humans, vehicles etc.

They also have the ability to record the highest quality video formats, something that their predecessors lacked.

Lasty there’s the fact that these systems are substantially easier to wire up, allowing for PoE cameras and WiFi cameras. PoE camera’s being powered over the one ethernet cable that connects them to the NVR, unlike traditional systems where you would need both a power cable and a coaxial connection.

The NVR systems are also more flexible in their positioning through signal boosters etc, whereas the older coaxial systems have issues when the cable length exceeds 300ft.
