IP Cameras are the industry standard for modern security systems. They typically support PoE (power over ethernet cable) meaning that they don't require electrical cable to be run separately meaning that they save on installation costs and maintenance. That said the main advantages of IP CCTV cameras over traditional coaxial systems are resolution, remote access and increased storage capacity using a modern network video recorder. Most IP Cameras work using a h.265 compression or (high efficiency video data compression) which allows for up to 95% increase in storage space. We recommend Uniview as the best security cameras to ensure that your security systems are future proofed against future regulation, which has been discussed for brands like HikVision in the UK.

UNIVIEW IP CCTV SOLUTIONS

Uniview's (UNV) game changing IP security solutions will change the way you look at CCTV. From Turrets, to Bullets, to PTZ's, there is something for every CCTV installation in this range. The 4-128 channel Network Video Recorders offer a reliable recording solution and are all ONVIF compatible. Each IP Camera in the Uniview range is Plug & Play with each other. Uniview IP security cameras also connect with the Ajax Wireless Alarm Systems, making complete security system installs that can be monitored from a single application simple. Blending visual verification, motion detection, fire and video data into on system offering complete security. In most cases IP cameras work better at night than analog cameras, offering greater quality full colour night vision.

UNIVIEW IP CAMERAS & CCTV Systems

Univiews IP cameras are amongst the best in the market, one of the fastest growing manufacturers with a wide range of options, offering everything from industry leading PTZ cameras through to classic bullet and turret cameras.

What is an IP Camera?

An IP camera is a type of CCTV camera which can be accessed remotely via an IP protocol. It is a digital camera which transmits and recieves data over a network or over the internet. These cameras are often PoE cameras, that means that they can be powered over ethernet cables.

Why should I choose an IP Camera?

IP Cameras can be accessed from anywhere in the world, are not limited by rooted coaxial systems and in some cases they're not even limited by the need for electricity. They're far more versatile than their traditional analogue counterparts.

Things to remember when setting up an IP Camera System

1. It is important to remember that in the UK, if you're setting up any security camera system that will film any public space, you need to display CCTV Warning signs prominently to make sure that people being filmed are aware.

2. It's essential that you make sure the camera is suitable for the job, IK Ratings will let you know what weather conditions the IP Camera is designed to withstand.

3. Wireless v Wired, Wireless cameras can be jammed as the WiFi itself can be. If you have higher grade items which could attract criminals with specialised equipment, then wired ethernet CCTV cameras will be essential.

4. IP Camera safety is important, as such you'll want to make sure that you not only use a strong password, but also make sure that the cameras security settings are enabled. Occasionally your camera will also require updates. Any security professional should properly set up the new camera and make sure that the camera stays up to date and secure.

5. Wireless IP cameras connect via Wi Fi to NVRs, but not all IP cameras connect via wifi. In most cases an IP security camera system will require some wiring. It is an option, but most batteries will not last longer than 3 months if the cameras have heavy use and record at a high camera resolution. As a result they're typically only recommend for use in more remote areas of your security system where running power cables would be difficult. Often it's simply more effective to use wifi routers and signal boosters, which can cover several kilometres at a time. The downside to remote wireless IP cameras is that they're more venerable to security breaches as they will only work whilst the wifi is connected. It is however possible to set up alerts when they become disconnected on some systems.

6. IP Ratings don't actually mean that a camera is an IP camera, now this may sound a little confusing, but IP ratings refer to a piece of electronic equipment's weather proofing. IP 66 is pretty much all anyone could ever need in the UK when setting up IP camera systems. That means it fully weather proof and suitable for outdoor usage all year round.

6. IK Ratings refer to a cameras impact rating, in short how easy it is for vandals to break it. An IP Camera that is rated at IK10 will be able to take a substantial impact and continue to transmit video data, without any damage to the lens.

7. Security cameras will work with most monitors, however, to get the most out of your setup, you will want a specifically designed monitor for IP camera systems, the same applies for hard drives. The reason is that not all monitors and hard drives are designed to be in the near constant usage that s demanded by IP camera systems.

8. Beyond the standard set of features that IP cameras support such as increased storage, better night vision and camera resolution they also have a string of specialised features, such as ANPR, machine learning, AI, facial recognition software and can even record 4k footage. With this in mind internet protocol network cameras will always have a string of advantages when it comes to features beyond simply recording video.
