Cabling your CCTV system is often the most challenging part of an installation. We wanted to make it a little bit easier for you by compiling a few top tips when using CAT5e and CAT6 cable.
When purchasing CAT5e or CAT6 cable labelled as ‘pure copper’, be sure to have a closer look at the materials in your chosen brand of cable. Retailers have been known to state that their products are made of pure copper but they are actually made of CCA or copper coated aluminium. Being extra vigilant will help you avoid problems down the line.

So which one is best for you?
CAT5e is the cheaper option as it has a smaller bandwidth. In addition, due to the cable being less thick, it is the easier to manoeuvre around corners. CAT6 delivers faster speeds and is known for being ‘future proof’ due to its larger bandwidth but don't worry. there is still plenty of life left in CAT5e!
